About Our Reindeer
Our reindeer Rudolph, Prancer, Sprout and Parsnip live at Nutley Farm all year round.
Our reindeer are very friendly and relaxed as they are in familiar surroundings and they love meeting people.
When you visit you will get the opportunity to purchase some Reindeer food and our reindeer will come and take the food from your hand. They are animals and will do what they want to so we can not guarantee that they will feed from you but they all do love their food and usually at least one of them is feeding.
Some interesting Reindeer facts:
- Ruldoph and Prancer are 6 years old.
- Sprout and Parsnip are 5 years old
- Our reindeer are castrated males and have lived at Nutley Farm for four years.
- Our Reindeer will lose their antlers in March and they will start growing again from April and during peak growth can grow at 1cm per day!
- The blood supply to the antler will start to stop in September and then the reindeer will start to lose the velvet that covers the antler.
